Destiny (Online Meal Planning & Training)

If you need some motivation & a little hope; please read my client Destiny's amazing transformation story. She is a true inspiration!!
Tell us a little about yourself & what made you decided to make a change to your health? My name is Destiny and I'm 33 years old.  Three years ago I met the man of my dreams and now we have a blended family with 5 beautiful children. Two of which are mine biologically and three step children.  All of our children are under the age of ten, so as you probably already can tell there is never a dull moment and we have lots of laughter in my house. Sometimes my husband calls me super mom because I work a full time job, I am in the process of completing my Business Management Degree online, cook dinner for my family in the evenings, take my children to karate and guitar lessons, plan family activities, attend the gym and attend church functions. My family is important to me and I love to spend as much time with them as I can in the midst of my busy life.

I went to my primary physician 5 months ago and she ran blood work and informed me that my cholesterol levels were extremely high.  She went on to tell me that if my cholesterol level did not lower soon, she would have to put me on long term medication.  After researching what that meant, and realizing that high cholesterol lead to heart problems-I knew I had to make major changes in my life.  Besides this I was continually tired and exhausted with no energy.  There were times that I would come home from work and I would want to sleep until the next day but-did not because I wanted to make sure I took care of what my family needed.  At the end of the evening I would go to sleep completely exhausted only to wake up 3 hours later.   Even though I was extremely tired every night..I tossed and turned in my sleep. I struggled from insomnia and started to take a sleep aid in order to sleep through the whole night.
What goals have you achieved since being on your plan?  I was on Facebook one day and saw a new picture of one of my close friends and I could not believe how different, happy and healthy she looked.  I immediately text her and asked how she was able to lose weight and tone in a short amount of time.   She told me about Emily Reynolds and what an amazing, motivational physical fitness coach she was.  I contacted Emily and my lifestyle has changed for the better.  I am one of Emily's online clients and I have been on my program for 8 weeks now. I am a slightly over 5 foot 3 with medium build. In 8 weeks I have lost a total of 14.6lbs. My energy level has changed like night and day.  I have gone down from size 7/8 pants to size 4 and from size Medium shirts to Extra-Small. I now wake up every morning go to the gym, prepare my meals from the personalized meal plan Emily created for me and go through my regular daily routines.  At the end of the day I have more energy than I know what to do with.  I am playing with my children more, chasing them around the yard, finally completing small projects around my house and I am a much happier person.   My husband jokes with my and tells me I have as much energy as our children. I feel like a new person-on the road to a better me.... and finally after 7 years I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
Give us some insight on what an average day looks like for you as far as your schedule. On an average day I wake up at about 5am and go to the gym.  When I arrive back home I fix breakfast for my children and get ready to go to work.  I work for 8 hours every day and usually go pick up one of my children from either guitar or karate lessons after work.  When I get home my husband and I prepare dinner together and we sit down as a family to eat and catch up on our day.  After dinner we spend time together as a family and at 8pm our children go to bed and I start on my homework.  I usually work on homework for about an hour and then possibly watch a little television with my husband before I go to bed at 10pm.

What is your favorite healthy food to eat? What is the recipe?
My absolute favorite healthy food to eat is a veggie omelet:
3 egg whites
1 egg
Coconut Oil (to cook omelet)
Mixed Veggies:  Green Bell Pepper, Red Bell Pepper, Onions, Spinach
A sprinkle of Himalayan Rock Salt
*I also add Fresh Salsa to the side*
This omelet is extremely good and filling for breakfast.
What is your favorite cheat meal that you have been able clean up a bit & keep in your diet? How did you alter it to make it cleaner eating? My favorite cheat meal is Olive Garden's Zuppe Toscana and salad.  This soup is great and I look forward to eating it on my cheat days.  I request ground turkey rather than sausage when I order.  In addition, I request the salad without dressing, cheese, or croutons and I bring my own vinaigrette for my salad. The servers are always surprised when I tell them there is no need to bring bread sticks to our table.  Prior to working with Emily I would eat about 3 bread sticks (150 calories each, cholesterol, etc.) with any meal that I ordered off the menu and now I am not even tempted to eat any bread sticks.  It is such a great feeling to take control of my health and have the discipline to resist unhealthy food.
Do you take any supplements? If so which one do you like the most & why?

I take a multivitamin along with a
magnesium supplement
every day.  The magnesium supplement is my favorite because it
helps my muscles to heal quicker to the point that I am not as sore
when I wake up in the morning (from the exercises the prior day) and my stomach no longer hurts.  In addition to my daily exercises, I wear
leg weights to work under my dress pant
and the magnesium has made a great difference in how sore I feel at the end of the day.
When it comes to eating clean what are your top 3 recommendations for someone just starting?
-Get rid of all junk food, fat free food, fruit juices, microwavable meals, etc.
-Immediately go grocery shopping and use your healthy meal plan. It is important to replace junk food with healthy clean food that same day.
-Do not justify eating unhealthy food because of _________ (ex: "I am running late", "I will just eat what I made for my children", "I am too tired to cook".   Throw out any excuse to eat unhealthy and what you will become is a determined, motivated person on the road to being your best you!!
How do you manage to accommodate the family with your new lifestyle & eating habits? Even though I have incorporated healthier eating for my family, I still maintain a stricter diet-which usually means cooking the family meal first and cooking my meal second.  I go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier in the morning so that I am able to go to the gym and make it back home in time to eat breakfast with my children before I go to work.  My five children enjoy eating more fruits and vegetables now because they see me eating healthy-I usually have to stock up more now at the grocery store, but it is a great problem to have.
What is your favorite form of exercise to do and why? My favorite form of exercise is working on the heavy bag.  Of course I had to purchase the cutest pink Ever-last boxing gloves.... I love to work out in style. The heavy bag works several parts of my body to include biceps, triceps, and deltoids.  Since I have been working out on my heavy bag my arms have become toned and I notice that when I lift weights now-I have more strength.

How do you stay so motivated? Results motivate me. I am a competitive person and now I am competing with myself to become the best me.  In the first week and a half of my plan I lost 3lbs. and I was as excited as a child on Christmas J.  As the weeks went on my clothes started to fit more lose and that just motivated me to reach my goals every week.
Looking at my amazing husband and beautiful children motivate me.  I want to be the best wife and mother that I can be.  Life often consists of making great memories and my new lifestyle has given me more energy, made me happier with the way I feel and I am able to spend quality time with my family without being mentally and physically tired.
Do you find that friends and family are supportive? How important has your support system been to you on this journey? My husband has been a wonderful support system.  When he goes for a quick grocery run, he always buys me healthy snacks rather than junk food. My husband attends the gym with me and will work out with me until I finish all of my scheduled exercises.  He is always gives me wonderful complements, and he is my amazing camera man when it his time to take pictures for my monthly weigh-in.
My friends complement me on how great I look and now -they also have a joke that--the gym is my second home and water is my favorite drink.  My friends are extremely supportive and a couple of them have told me that I have motivated them and they now know it is possible to be a mother and wife that is healthy, fit, with lots of energy.  A couple of my friends that are also mothers have made time to attend the gym with me since my new lifestyle.
What is your goal for this year?
My goal this year is become leaner, toned; lose a total of 20 lbs. and motivated friends to live a new healthy lifestyle. When I lose 20lbs I want to take professional pictures and go clothes shopping to mark my achievement.
What has been the best thing that has come of this healthy lifestyle of yours? Some of the best things that have come out of this healthy lifestyle is I no longer have stomach pains, migraines, my cholesterol levels are normal, more energy, happier rather than exhausted, and I have led my family into this healthy lifestyle with me.
Please share with us any words of wisdom or anything that has made an impact on you that you think with help anyone looking to achieve what you have? When I started this journey the first change I had to make was my mindset. I set aside all excuses and came to the conclusion that it would take determination and hard work to reach my goal-but it was going to be worth the journey in the end.  Being a mother of five small children is amazing and hard work at the same time but I knew that I had to make time in my daily schedule to take care of my health.  My family and I benefit from my new lifestyle ... it is a "win" "win" situation.
The quote below has become a great motivation to me:
"It's not what's happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny."  ~Anthony Robins
Thank you Destiny - you inspire me! You are a true testament to the fact that you can do anything yo set your mind to!
